For nearly 50 years, Taj Mapaw has proudly been part of Roanoke’s thriving community of pet care service providers, offering professional grooming, dog daycare, and boarding services.
A Different Kind of Dog Care
Our 15,000 sq ft all-in-one facility features multiple indoor and outdoor play areas, premium overnight boarding accommodations, and a professional grooming salon. The 5-acre property has 2 private fenced-in dog parks and a massive in-ground swimming pool — all designed so that every dog, whether they’re a social butterfly, a couch potato, or somewhere in between, has the next best thing to home.
A Stay-Cation
Our overnight boarding guests stay in private rooms featuring full tempered glass doors, reducing the “boxed in” feeling of traditional boarding enclosures — but don’t mistake that for a traditional boarding experience. Rooms are for bedtime and rest breaks only. After breakfast, your dog’s day begins. Their room is cleaned and refreshed while they’re out, and it’s ready and waiting when they wind down for the evening. It’s structured, comfortable, and nothing like a typical kennel stay.
Puppy-Sitting Duty
Our daycare program is designed around one simple idea — no two dogs are the same. Whether your dog thrives in a social environment, prefers a quieter one-on-one experience, or falls somewhere in between, we build their day around them. With playgroups or hikes in the parks, mingling in the indoor and outdoor common areas, to all-day swim parties in the pool, there’s no shortage of ways to keep every guest active, engaged, and happy regardless of their energy level or social style.
Structure is Part of the Care
Many of our guests spend as much time with us as they do at home, and we take that seriously. From learning not to jump to waiting patiently at doorways, we hold every guest to a standard of behavior that supports their development. We don’t enable unwanted behavior, because to us, these dogs aren’t just guests, they’re family.
All Under One Roof
Rounding out the experience is our professional grooming salon. From breed specific hair cuts to a bath from nose to tail, your dog will always look and feel their best.
Also available is the self service pet wash station, for when your pet finds something spontaneous to roll in….again.
